:: Our Story ::

We try not to take life too seriously & are entertained by the little things, like treating our dog, Minnow, like a baby, laughing at our silly, sweet babies, basement foosball tournaments, and dance parties in the car. We are madly in love with each other and the wee family we are building. Come & stay awhile. xo

I love these little shoes!

Recently, I discovered Etsy. Maybe I'd been avoided it because I knew the trouble it could cause to my budget. But, with this little dude on the way, I keep wandering over to etsy to check out all the unique baby things.

And, for only $10, I have to buy these little shoes! :)

Baby Gear

After weeks of debate and searching the internet, we just ordered our crib! We're so so excited!

It probably should have been done weeks (possibly months) ago, but we just couldn't find anything we truly loved... until Jody stumbled on the lussobaby.com website. And, the best part was, the store is in Vancouver! One of the major problems was that most cribs were only avaliable in the U.S.... or were avaliable here but for ridiculously inflated prices.

When we found this set, we were both totally in love. And, thankfully, it was on sale. We're suckers for a bargin!

I can't believe we'll be putting our little dude to sleep in here very soon....

:: 2010 ::

One of my girlfriends, Shawna, always does a word for the year... A word to sum up the expectations, desires, excitement for the coming year.

This idea inspired me & I pondered the idea of a word for our little family. But, I decided, I wanted a word for me, personally. And the word I heard so clearly one day as I cleaned the bathroom (glamorous, I know!), was "DARE".

dare |de(ə)r|1 have the courage to do something2 defy or challenge (someone) to do something3 take the risk of; brave

This sums up a lot for me personally as I enter 2010.

So, its my word. :)

For me, this means dare to trust God, dare to dream big dreams and, most importantly, have the courage to believe in myself.

Good Morning

Its 5:22 a.m. & I am wide awake. Its definitely not for lack of trying to sleep. Technically, I've been awake since 4:51 a.m. I lied in bed for a while, trying my left side with body pillow, my right side snuggling Minnow, and then curling up to Jody. Nothing. Still wide awake. I've read about this happening. I guess its training for multiple feedings & little awakenings in the night by our little guy. Right now, I'm so excited to meet him, I don't even think I'll mind. That much. *smile*

Here's a picture of my little Minnow, completely zoned out in our bed. Just about her favorite place in the world.

And in her bed. One of my favorite things about her is how her tongue comes out when she sleeps...

And its totally dehydrated & still out when she wakes up... It usually stays like this for a good minute or 2.

Dear Baby

Baby P @ Week 11

Last week, you gave me a little scare. I had become so used to your nightly (& often daily) baby dancing, when you stopped for a few days, I couldn't help but worry. I read my maternity book, which made it worse... I tried all of the little suggestions for making your baby move: gentle shaking my belly (Daddy hates this one, he thinks its another form of Shaken Baby Syndrome), drinking juice, going for a brisk walk. Nothing worked. You wouldn't wake up. On Monday, after a few days of anxiously waiting for you, I even resorted to getting an Americano... just to kick things up a notch. But not even that worked. No baby dancing.

Immediately after getting home from work on Monday, I hopped in the shower & off to the hospital we go, Daddy & me. I explained I might be over-reacting & irrational, but that I was worried. They immediately brought us in for a Non-Stress test to monitor your heart rate and movements. As soon as I heard your little heart beat fluttering away, I was calm & reassured. You were still in there.

After the machines were hooked up & everything was confirmed that you were ok, they monitored you for 45 minutes. After only a few minutes of relaxing, you started a dance party & we got to see the biggest movements from you we've ever seen! It was such a blessing to listen to your little heart beat away for so long! We watched Nanny 911 in the hospital room (which, hopefully, isn't a prelude of anything to come!) & were entertained by Cat, the maternity nurse.

The whole experience was so reassuring... that you are growing strong & health, that the staff at the hospital are lovely, that we are going to be ok.

We can't wait to meet you!

Love,

M
